Liberal Women Have More Success in Dating

Data proves that the anti-Stepford wife is actually more likely to find success in dating.

The Stepford Wife is robotic, submissive and repressed. Her behavior is learned as a necessary means of securing — and holding onto — a husband, i.e. a comfortable space within societal norms, and financial stability.

Fortunately, while this facade may have been the accepted standard for locking down “martial bliss” decades ago, becoming a happy wife (or finding a fulfilling relationship) is much different today. In fact, according to our data, women who embody the opposite of subservience have better odds of finding lasting love.

That’s right — outspoken, liberal women are more likely to find success on OkCupid than those who are not.

We had a hunch this was the case; after all, open-minded women have the confidence to know who they are and what they’re looking for — and not settle till they’ve discovered just that. But we wanted to know for sure. So first, we defined “successful women” as those who deactivated their OkCupid profiles because they met someone on the site. We then looked at how these successful women answer Match Questions, and extrapolated their top answers to see what trends surfaced. And those results revealed something spectacular: women who find success on OkCupid are totally badass. Here’s why:

Successful women on OkCupid believe in equal rights.

Supporting same-sex marriage is the most common trait among successful women on OkCupid, with supporters being 85% more likely to find success on OkCupid than those who do not.

They also care.

The second-most common trait among successful women on OkCupid is, simply, caring. Women who answer “Yes” to the question: “Do you feel obligated to help your fellow human beings?” are 72% more likely to meet a partner.

These facts demonstrate that — while looks, success and personal accolades are important — they can’t speak to substance. Caring about the equality of fellow human beings is the most distinguishing quality of women who’ve found their match on OkCupid, and we’re pretty damn proud of that. Not only does it mean that the women who come to OkCupid are largely caring, compassionate individuals, but it also means that we’re able to help those women find genuine, substantive connections.

Successful women on OkCupid also have political qualities in common:

They believe in the free press…

Women who believe that the public should have access to all literature (regardless of its content) are 34% more likely to find success.

…and separation of church and state.

On the politics front, women who believe in separation of church and state see a 30% increase in the likelihood that they’ll meet someone on OkCupid. So it’s a fact: successful women don’t want religion influencing laws, Mr. Pence.

Speaking of which, sex, education and sexual education are also important to women who’ve found love on OkCupid:

Women who’ve met someone on OkCupid are open about sex…and like to have it.

Women who say they’d answer any of their partner’s questions concerning their sexuality are 33% more likely to find success on OkCupid. When it comes to pleasure, women who believe masturbation is not a form of infidelity (for people in exclusive relationships) are 39% more likely to find success. Additionally, women who think waiting to have sex until marriage is ridiculous are 31% more likely to meet their partner.

They also think reading is sexy.

Women on OkCupid who believe a person’s education plays a role in attraction are 31% more likely to find love. And being someone who’s bothered by typos also increases success rate by 36%.
