According to our data, slow dancing can still be romantic post-prom.

We did a little research on the subject of romance. And the results were surprising. It turns out, some things that worked back in the days of yore can still set the mood today. Others, not so much.

Now we have to warn you: just because the majority of singles consider something romantic, it doesn’t mean that your date necessarily will. But at least with the data below, you’ll know your chances of romantic success.

70% of both men and women think something candlelit is more romantic than tacky.

Given the choice of a fancy hotel, a road trip to visit friends, a camping trip, or staying at home, a fancy hotel is the most popular option for a romantic three-day weekend. A camping trip comes next, while staying at home is considered the least romantic pick.

29% of men and 18% of women consider drug use a gateway — well, drug — to romance.

More than half of both men and women dig the idea of slow dancing during a night in.

64% of women and 54% of men are more interested in love than sex.

Okay, now you’re a little better informed about romance today than you were a minute ago. If you’re still in need of a date this Valentine’s Day (or any day), there’s no time like the present: browse your matches ASAP.
